just catching everyone in journal land up to date
I had a fwd sheet with Fedir's flight info on it and we all piled in the car to go get him from the airport. Dad has a sat nav thingie and asks "Is he arriving at terminal 1 or terminal 2?". So get out the sheet at squint at it a mite and there it is .... Gatwick! So we nearly went to the wrong airport hehehe
The flight was early but we were waiting. Fedir came through the doors, yes I have to admit there were some tears, lots of hugging and babbling in Ukranian but hey its been a while.
Fedir hasn't changed much except he's grown really tall now, I am about level with his nose.
We got back at about 11pm, woke up the next morning at about 5 - I made eggy bread
We all piled in the car to go shopping at an Asda (Walmart) Hyperstore. That was a giggle as I had told Fedir that it was like a small local store. I can remember my headrush when I realised how big stores were compared to the Ukraine and fecir was no different hahaha
We had lunch there. Fedir still eats canteen style with his arm on the table in front of his plate. I was a shock to remember that I used to eat like that and it took me a while to stop doing it, I had completely forgotten.
Anyhow we went back and unloaded, I showed him round the village (lamp-post, bus stop ... 20 seconds). Then off to ten pin bowling, he's a natural or I am very bad at it LOL ... wasted some time shooting ghouls in the arcade until we were collected
On Wednesday we all went clay pigeon shooting, a meal at the restaurant that was there. Played Spyro on my PS1 all evening
Thursday, Fedir went on a british bus LOL that was a hoot. We babbled away about the days when we would watch each other in case the comptroller came on a bus when we had no ticket. We went swimming, well sliding down the tubes mostly but we got wet anyhow. Mooched the mall and stared in *the* coffee shop but ended up drinking in Costa Coffee anyhow.
Friday, we had a day trip to Torquay, wandered around and let Fedir try and get his head around the sea. Fedir likes ice cream *nods*
Saturday, we went and bought Fedir some new clothes that you can't get in the Ukraine. We got his a little case that you pull along with lots of pockets on.
We then spend the evening, all of us, planning my return visit to the Ukraine, woooooooo
Sunday, we went up to London to see some sights then into the airport and watched him go back :*(
Now Sunday was Mother's Day in the UK. I have always had a great problem calling my step-mum 'mum'. I had no problem with Dad but, for some reason it just wasn't right. At some stage over the year I had just started to think of step-mum as mum ... no sort of actual decision it just started to happen. I don't think I had actually said anything but when I went to get my usual "for a special person" card I ended up looking through actual mothers cards.
So at the airport while we were all quite emotional anyhoo, I handed her the card and said "thanks mum". I had expected some sort of tear or two and, if anyone starts crying, so do I. Well think fountains, geysirs, waterfalls ... you get the picture ... and all in the departure lounge of an international airport
So the next biggie has to be visiting the Ukraine
It's nice to be important but it's also important to be nice
If only everyone could get their head round this idea the world would be a much better place *nods*
